Looking for work? "The List" runs down the dos and the don’ts

Act Three

Getting back into the job market can be tough for anyone, especially women who have been out of the workforce for several years while raising children.

Jenell Walton, multimedia journalist for "The List", runs down the list of dos and don’ts to help you get hired.  She brought one of the experts she found to Scripps downtown headquarters for their one-on-one interview about where you should turn your focus  to get hired.

Shifman has clients around the country who are searching for how to get back into the workforce after raising children.   She says women need to make sure they update their look and make sure work clothing is current.

Shifman also says she thinks the number one thing holding women back is computer skills.  If you don’t know the current tech lingo, consider taking a class at a local community college.

Some women also lack the confidence needed to land a new position.  Shifman says they don’t recognize the skills and talents they have gained as a stay-at-home mom.

You can see more of the list of dos and don’ts of getting hired, including watch a work wardrobe makeover, tonight, February 19, 2013, on The List.
