RightThisMinute, the syndicated broadcast program that brings viewers the latest breaking videos and news of the web, is expanding its national reach after consistently strong ratings performances in its first two seasons. RightThisMinute selected MGM Television (MGM) as its syndication partner.
RightThisMinute, produced by MagicDust Television in partnership with Cox Media Group, Raycom Media and The E.W. Scripps Company, is the first daily broadcast television series devoted to finding the best viral videos and the stories behind them. Its 24-hour staff introduces audiences to the newest and most captivating web videos as they break, often before the videos go viral.
“Of all the top-tier potential partners we spoke with, MGM understands the success and potential of RightThisMinute, and was uniquely positioned to take this first-of-its-kind production to the next level,” said Phil Alvidrez, MagicDust executive in charge of production.
“RightThisMinute offers fresh, original half- hours every day throughout the year. Capitalizing on the immense popularity of viewer generated videos before they go viral is such an innovative idea, “said John Bryan, President Domestic Television Distribution, MGM. “Our team is excited to be selling this fast-paced, entertaining programming and to be working with these top-notch station groups.”
RightThisMinute is seeing ratings success in numerous markets, including top 10 DMA San Francisco (KTVU, FOX), where the program is the #1 daytime syndicated show among viewers 25-54 (Nielsen, Nov. 2012). Currently, RightThisMinute airs in approximately 50 U.S. markets to over a million daily viewers. The show saw its second season debut in Detroit, Denver, Indianapolis, San Diego, and Tulsa, among others, in September of 2012. Other markets where the show returned include: Seattle, Phoenix, Cleveland, Orlando, Charlotte, Baltimore, Kansas City, Cincinnati, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Richmond, and many more.
RightThisMinute produces two original half-hour episodes every weekday. Also announced today is the addition of two original half-hour “best of” weekend shows that will be available in the fall of 2013. RightThisMinute’s executive producers are former TMZ executive producer, Lisa Hudson and veteran journalist, Dennis O’Neill.
