KERO, the Scripps ABC Affiliate in Bakersfield, CA, had a big weekend.
The station debuted its new set, switched to broadcasting in HD and unveiled the new Scripps graphics and music package. Todd Karli, news director and main anchor for KERO, delivered the first newscast on the new set Saturday at 11 p.m. (pictured left)
The station will unveil new set features one at a time.
It debuted one of its new two 60 inch monitors Monday morning. The set has both a vertical and a horizontal monitor to showcase stories in new ways. (picture right: The Good Morning Kern County team with Steve Weinstein, general manager)
The back wall and side wall are exact replicas of the award-winning set at Scripps’ KJRH in Tulsa.
It took a crew from the company FX five days to build the new set. The KERO news team presented its newscasts from the newsroom during the build.
